The past couple weeks we've been so busy. My family came out to visit for my Grandpa Gibbs 90th birthday party. It was fun to spend time together as a family and visiting our extended family.

While we were at my grandparents we decided to help them out and put up their Christmas lights.

Happy 90th birthday Grandpa Gibbs, I love you and look forward to many more years :)

A week or so later we got hit with a HUGE winter storm! It snowed over 6inches in a couple hours. It was crazy, we both got out of work early and pretty much everything in Logan closed down.

My car had no snow on it, then an hour later this is how much it had!

We played in the snow, and Eva loved it! Well...only for the first 15 min, then she got cold and wanted to come in.

The next week Chris was good enough to come to the Nutcracker with me :) He doesn't really like ballets, but its a Christmas classic!

I also went to my good friend Jaclyn's baby shower. She's having a little girl the end of January.

She got a lot of cute things for her new little baby! And it was the first time Janelle, Jaclyn, and I had all been together! It was nice to catch up.

Chris and I also went the the First Presidency Christmas devotional. The Conference Center was so beautiful and Christmasy :)

This past weekend was Chris and my two year anniversary! I can't believe it's been two years, it seems like we just got married! We went to Park City for the weekend. We were going to go snowboarding, but the weather was horrible and there wasn't that much snow on the slopes. But we still had fun together

This is where we stayed, the Canyons! It was so nice and Saturday was so beautiful, we rode the Gondola and could see all of Park City. It was such a great trip and was nice to relax and look back on the past two years. I love you Chris!

Race Day!

Chris and I signed up to run a 5K this weekend, it was our first race and we had a great time.

Fall Festivities 2010

This fall Chris and I have been having a lot of fun and staying busy. Chris is going to school full time and working part time, and I've been working full time, but we still find time to have fun together. Last weekend we went down to SLC to shop and visit friends. We had a great time, it was nice to get away for a little bit.

My good friend Jaclyn met us up in SLC to go shopping with me, and then we all went to dinner together. She's 6 1/2 months pregnant with her first, she's so cute pregnant! It was fun to get to see her since we don't get together very often anymore now that Chris and I moved to Logan.

While we were in SLC Chris and I also went to temple square. As we were there I heard someone say my name and I turned around and there was my old high school friend Shyann! We hadn't seen each other in over five years! She has two cute little kids and lives in South Carolina and happened to be visiting family that week! What a coincident that we ran into each other!

I love going to temple square, it's so peaceful and beautiful.

As we were driving back home from our little getaway I took some pictures of Sardine Canyon and the beautiful fall leaves.

The next weekend we went to this place called Little Bear Bottoms. It was really fun, we picked out our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, went on a spooky tractor ride, and did a corn maze!

To catch up a little bit.... During conference weekend my sister Janelle and her boyfriend Spencer came up to visit. We had a great time together and it was nice getting to know Spencer a little better.

We went out to dinner at one of our local favorites, Cafe Sabor.

And the next day we went hiking...

Janelle rock climbed....while I tried and slipped and fell partway down this waterfall! It was so scary, I got soaking wet and scratched up, but I kept going!

We finally got to the top and took a group photo with the camera on a rock, I'm surprised how well this pic even turned out!

To continue to catch up, Chris and I have also gone to all the home football games this season. This game in particular was our favorite cause we beat BYU! It was such a great game, all the students rushed the field afterward, but of course my camera died and I couldn't take a pic of it.

I had to take a pic of the scoreboard just to show that it really did happen. First time in over 17 years!

It was a great game, see, even look how happy the guy behind us is!

But the victory was short lived, because a couple weeks later we played Hawaii and lost 45 to 7! Ya pretty embarrassing, not to mention it was POURING rain. So we left early.

A couple weeks earlier we went to Kalai's concert on USU campus. I first went to one of his concerts my freshman year at BYU and loved his music! So when I heard he was coming to Logan I of course wanted to go

So that's what we've been up to the past couple months.

Now, Halloween is this weekend, and since we dont have any kids and I couldn't resist dressing up our little dog Eva.

Doesn't she look so cute as a little bumble bee!

So maybe in the next year or two we'll have a kid to dress up, but until then... have a Happy Halloween!! We love you.

Game Day!

This Saturday Chris and I went to the USU football game against Fresno State. It was a lot of fun, even though we lost....

The first half they played really well, but the second half not as good. But it was still nice to get out and do something together :)

The fans were loud and crazy as ever! Which always makes for a good game.

All students get in free to the games, but since I'm not a student anymore, I got a "spouse's pass" which was only $40 and I get to go to everything for free too! So we'll be going to lots of games this year! Go AGGIES!!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day weekend Chris and I didn't have anything planned, my mom said that the whole family, including Janelle were going to Eastern Oregon to go camping. I thought that sounded so fun, but I knew there was no way we could go. I talked to Chris about it and he asked some of the guys at work if they could cover his shift. After work we talked about it again and decided that we should just do it! You're only young once, right? So we left that night for the 12 hr drive to Oregon to see my Family! They were all so surprised to see us when we got there! We had such a good time, we went hiking, fishing, talked around the campfire. All in all it was good to just hangout together without the interruptions of TV, Internet, and cell phones.

Chris has started Fall semester at USU and also joined a flag football team! This is at his first game under the lights at Romney Stadium! He played great and his team won!

He's such a good football player, it's fun to watch him.

We've had a great summer and did lots of fun things. Now the weathers getting colder and I can tell Fall is about here! I love the Fall season, but I'm not looking forward to Winter, especially here in Logan!

Family Vacation

Last week Chris and I went to Washington for a Hammond family reunion! It was so much fun, we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. Which is an indoor water park not to far from his brother's house. Then later we got to visit my family in Oregon. We had such a great time!

The water park is designed to look like a huge cabin, it was amazing!

I couldn't get a good picture of the water slides, but you can see how big they are! They were so much fun, the red and yellow one has a huge drop off and then you slide up and down it, it's awesome!

It was cloudy a couple of the days, but the last day it was really nice and we got to lay outside!

We played in the wave pool...well they did, since they're not my favorite.

We had a great time swimming! Although Chris and his brother did get a little burned...OUCH!

July 22nd was Chris 24th birthday and we got to celebrate it there with his family!

The last day there was Sunday and we just played around before we had to check out.

We had a great time together, thanks Mike and Barb for all the fun memories!

Chris and I weren't done playing yet.... After we left Wolf Lodge we drove down to visit my family for a few days in Oregon!

Summer Time

This summer we've been so busy! We had a Leishman family reunion at Bear Lake for my Dad's side of the family. My family was able to come to Logan to visit and see our new place :) We had a lot of fun at the lake, we rented a boat, played volleyball, and got really sunburned! It was great, well minus the sunburn part.
The next weekend was the 4th of July. Since the 4th was on Sunday we got to have four fun filled days of celebration! On Friday night we went to the USU stadium and listened to music and watched the fireworks. Then Saturday after Chris got home from work we went to the "Cruise-In" which is a parade down Logan's Main street, with lots of old and new cars. Sunday we spent the day with Chris' parents and had a neighborhood firework show that night! Monday I didn't have to work so I got some house cleaning done, laid out,and just relaxed until Chris got home, then we went to a dinner, a movie, and the Hyrum fireworks!
It was a great weekend of celebrations! And now back to work....but only two weeks til we leave for Washington!

Catching Up...

I know it's been forever since I last blogged, no excuses, but here's whats been going on in our lives the past three and half months.

We moved! Chris got a job working with his dad in a men's formal wear clothing store that they own. So we moved from Provo, Utah to Logan, Utah. I found a new job as well, but still as a dental assistant.
Our moving trip was quite the fiasco, it's a really long story, but basically as we were in the moving truck on our way up to Logan, my car broke down! We couldn't get it into a shop til the next morning, so we stayed the night at our friend's house and in the morning decided it would be best to tow the Honda and just get it fixed in Logan. So we had to rent an auto carrier last minute to tow the car. We dropped the car off and waited to hear the diagnosis.... Hours later we found out that the car needed a new head gasket, timing belt, and water pump. It was so expensive we debated whether or not to get a new car.... But decided to just get it fixed. I didn't get my car back for two weeks!

Good-bye first apartment! We'll miss you!!

Moving into our new apartment was also a disaster! It was so dirty and gross we spent three straight days painting, cleaning the carpet, the tile, cupboards, drawers, pretty much redoing all the "so-called" cleaning that the land lady said she did. But three days later it looks so much better and we can finally call it home!

After all the craziness finally died down we added a new member to our family... met Eva! Our new puppy! She's a teacup Yorkshire terrier, she's so much fun and we love her!

We also went on our annual trip to Yellowstone with Chris' family.

It was fun to hang out with the whole family and spend time together.

We saw lots of cool wildlife.

And the boys spent lots of time fishing. Chris caught five!

Eva also came with us, which made the trip fun for me since I didn't get to fish.

I also went back home to Oregon for my little sister Nicole's high school graduation.

I can't believe how grown up she's getting! We were all so proud of her! Nicole plans on going to a local community college and studying diagnostic imaging.

We had a huge graduation party after ward for the nine LDS graduates at this really pretty park in Philomath.

It was fun spending time together as a family (although Chris wasn't able to come). We went bowling...

Quarter of a Century

February 21st was my 25th birthday and since it was on Sunday we celebrated it on Saturday. Chris was so cute, he woke up early and made me Swedish pancakes (my favorite) with strawberries and whip cream.
For my birthday present I wanted a new bedspread so we drove up to Salt Lake and I went to this cute little boutique called the Quilt Shop. If you haven't been you should! They had the cutest quilts, duvets, shames, throw pillows, everything you could think of! I had been looking at quilt stores for awhile and never found anything I loved, but we found some great stuff here.

Side story... Earlier that week Jaclyn and I were in Salt Lake at a flower shop, and while driving through the back parking lot we saw that their dumpster was full of fresh flowers! They were perfectly fine so without anyone looking we went dumpster diving and pulled out more then 10 dozen roses and hydrangeas! Then went back to her house and striped and cleaned all the flowers then she put together two beautiful arrangements for my birthday party.

Back to Saturday....after the Quilt shop Chris and I went back home and decorated and got all the treats ready for the party.

Then later that night we went to Tempanyaki for dinner. It's a Japanese steakhouse where they make the meal right in front of you. It was so awesome and the food was delicious.

Afterward we met up with a bunch of our friends at Fat Cats to bowl and play pool. We all had a really fun time! And I beat Chris both games, sorry babe!

Next we all went back to our place to have cake and ice cream and watch the Olympics! It was a really good birthday and I'm glad I could celebrate it with all my friends.

Viva Las Vegas!

This valentines day Chris and I decided very short notice to take a trip to Vegas! Mike and Barb we're down there for a work convention and said we could stay with them. Since we wouldn't have to pay for a room we thought it would be a great inexpensive trip. But we were kinda wrong about that because on the last night we got a ticket! It's a really long story, but in a nutshell... we didn't deserve the ticket at all! Chris was driving all of us back from dinner and there was a car accident that happened on the left side of the road. We saw a police officer on his way over to the accident, but he pulled over the driver in front of us instead of going to the accident, so we tried to pull around them. The officer told us not to move, so to get out of the way of on-coming traffic we pulled the car back into the lane. He then walked over and got our license and registration! He told us to follow him. We ended up waiting in a parking lot for over 45 min while the officer investigated the car accident and THEN came over to give us a ticket for not listening to him! Which we thought we were trying to safely obey what he said! Need less to say we were all pretty mad and it kind of put a damper on the rest of the night. But we tried to get over it and have a good time anyways.

I've been to Vegas a few times before, but every time I go I'm amazed at how beautiful the buildings are and all the crazy nightlife!

The Venetain is so beautiful, and you can go on a gondola ride that takes you right through the resort.

This huge pyramid is actually a hotel called the Luxor. It's where we stayed. It was so much fun. Although the elevator rides were interesting... We were on the 25th floor and the elevator doesn't go straight up like normal, it goes up tilted like the angle of the building, it was quite the ride.

Inside Caesar's Palace we met the Blue Man Group, Mike got really close to them. :)

This picture is of old Las Vegas. It's further down the strip then the newer Las Vegas. They've redone alot of it though. The white dome looking thing is actually a huge screen that plays lots of cool videos!

Recently they added a new resort called the Aria. Here is an overview shot of it. It is so beautiful. Chris and I walked through it. It had those cool tornado looking this in the picture below. It just had amazing architecture and didn't smell like smoke and dirty casino, but fresh paint and new wood. It was great!

Also while we were there we went to the Magic and Slate show, which are two huge conventions. Mike and Barb went to Vegas for this convention and they registered Chris and I so we could also go and see what it was like. There were so many people and merchandise! There are tons of booths set up selling clothes and accessories at cost to retailers. Since Mike and Barb now own the Katershop they were buying new products for the up coming spring/fall season.

Chris got to even help pick out new ties and suits that they'll soon be carrying in the store! It was a lot of fun.

My favorite resort is Paris, most specifically the Eiffel tower. I just love how beautiful it is, I can never take enough pictures of it. Chris can vouch for that :)

We participated in some of the night life. I'm helping this guy do a magic trick. Which was actually pretty cool, watch the video of it down further.

We even saw some famous people including Robert Pattinson and Johnny Depp! No, not really these were just impresonators. But we really did see Fat Joe, Flavor Flav, and Clyde "The Glide" Drexler who played for the Huston Rockets.

Chris had to get a Coke at the Coca-Cola store. It was a really cool store with lots of fun Coke products, we also went into the M&M store.

The Bellagio water show is another one of my favorite things to see while in Vegas.

We walked around A LOT! By the end of our two day trip my feet were killing me! But we saw some amazing things and had a good trip, so I guess it was a good trade off.

Thanks Mike and Barb for letting us crash your party and stay with you guys. We had a lot of fun and we're glad we could come...even with getting that $190 ticket.

Utah Jazz Game

Last weekend my cousin called me up and asked if Chris and I would like to go to a Jazz game. Of course I knew Chris would love that, so I didn't even call him to ask , I just said YES! We went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant (Cafe Rio) and drove up to Salt Lake City to the Energy Solutions Arena. We had such a good time! We were on row 20, which is the closest I've ever sat at a game. We got to see Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Ronnie Price, Paul Millsap, and of course Kyle Korver. It was a really good game, they played the Bucks and won by 17 points!

Our 2nd Christmas

Since we were in Oregon for Christmas with my family, Chris' family decided to have a belated Christmas at their place. Chris had to go on a business trip to Vegas and couldn't make it. I was really bumed, but went up to Logan anyways. Chris' brother Scot, his wife Traci and their two boys flew out for it and we had a great time spending our 2nd Christmas together.

The boys had fun opening presents and playing with the wrapping paper... it seems like kids always like that more then the presents...why is that?

Chris and I gave Barb a digital photo frame, she loved it! And I put on a bunch of family pictures for her.

It's always good to see everyone and fun for Traci and I to catch up. We have so much fun together!

Chace was so cute in his snow clothes! Although we spent more time getting him in the clothes then the time he actually spent in the cold snow....

Happy Holidays from Oregon

This year for Christmas we went to visit my family in Oregon. We had so much fun getting to visit and do some sightseeing!

We had a lot of fun looking at all the different exhibits and learning a bunch of cool things.

Every Christmas eve all of my family puts together a talent show, you have to perform something and then you get to open one gift. People play instruments, sing, read, and a lot more

This year my immediate family sang a fun Christmas song with an Island twist!

Everyone had a bunch of presents to open, and all of us got exactly what we wanted! It was one of the best Christmas' ever.

I gave Chris a new fishing vest, he loves it and has already used it. He went steelhead fishing with my uncle while we were there visiting. They got two huge fish!

Here is a picture of one of the fish he and my uncle caught. He had so much fun he even joked about moving to Oregon just for the fishing! Maybe someday... :)

We went to the Oregon Coast one of the days we were there, the weather was so nice. Clear blue sky with the sun shinning. I miss the ocean.

I love the Oregon Coast Aquarium and everytime I come home I like to visit there. Since Chris had never been I decided that we should go.

We also got a chance to visit Chris' brother Scot, his wife Traci and their two kids.

It wouldn't be a visit to Oregon without going to the Woodburn Outlets, they have some of my favorite stores with great deals!

One of the other things I have to do when I go home is go to this small mexican restaurant called La Rockita. They have the best burritos ever! It runs a pretty close second to Cafe Rio.

We also went with my family and some friends to see Avatar in 3D. I didn't have too high an expectation for the movie, but it actually was a lot better then I thought it would be.

Our last night here was New Years Eve. We went out to dinner and came home to play games and watch the Dick Clark's New Years Eve show.

This was our third New Years together, can't wait for more to come. 2010 is going to be a great year with lots of changes!

We had a great time, and did so much in such a short visit. It was fun to spend time with my family and make a lot of great memories! We love and miss you guys.

One Year Anniversary

December 12th was our one year anniversary! I can't believe it's already been a year, it's gone by so fast and we couldn't be happier! We decided to go to Park City for the weekend and stayed at a nice resort with two indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, and a nice big bedroom!

We went out to dinner on Friday at a nice Mexican restaurant

We ate lots of yummy food!

Then later that night we went back to the hotel and played in the pool and hot tub and celebrated with some Martinellis!

The next day we went to the outlet mall and spent the day shopping. It starting snowing pretty hard while we were there!

We had fun entertaining ourselves...

Chris surprised me with an early Christmas present too! Since it was our one year anniversary and he knew I've been wanting another wedding band...he got me one! I was so surprised! We went into the Zales outlet just to look at them. He asked me which one I liked, I tried on a couple, found my favorite one and he said we'll take it! And bought it right there! I was really caught off guard, but he said he's been wanting to do it for awhile, but wanted me to pick it out. So here's what me ring looks like now, it's so beautiful! Thanks love! :)

On the way back we were going to go to Salt Lake City to see the Christmas lights on temple square and go out to dinner, but since it was snowing so hard and the roads were bad we figured we might as well go home and not get caught driving late at night. But it was still pretty bad on the way home, we saw multiple accidents, but made it home safe.

We had such a great weekend spending time together. One year down and looking forward to forever more! I love you Chris, thanks for a great anniversary!

KBUL 93 country concert

On Wednesday we went to KBUL 93 concert at the Energy Solutions Arena. We went with my sister Janelle and her friend Eric. We went out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and then went to the concert. We had so much fun! We saw Bomshel, Bucky Covington, and Phil Vassar.

After the concert was over Chris noticed they were doing a sports cast about the Utah Jazz, I don't know who these guys were, but apparently he was pretty excited about it.

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving this year was so fun, we went up to Logan and stayed with Chris parent's Mike and Barb. They are such great hosts! We went out to dinner, went to a movie, played games, and even got an early Christmas present! They gave us a Kitchen Aid! I've been wanting one forever and now have one! Chris also worked at the Katershop, which is a men's clothing and tux store that his parent's recently bought. So we were able to make a little money on the side and still spend time with the family. Thanks Mike and Barb for a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Our Busy Weekend!

This weekend was a whirlwind of fun activities! First I had decided that I wanted to put up my Christmas tree and Christmas decorations. I know it's early, but... we're leaving to Logan for Thanksgiving on Tues so I wont be able to do it that weekend, then it's already December and we leave for Oregon on the 23rd and I want to enjoy my Christmas decorations for more then three weeks! So there is my justifications to those who think it's too early for Christmas.
Chris and I were married last Christmas, but since it was right after we got married we were never able to put up a Christmas tree or decorate. This year it was so much fun! I had never put up a fake tree before (yes that's right, I'm from Oregon, we have real trees there :) so Chris showed me how, we had a lot of fun listening to Christmas music and reminiscing of past Christmas'.
We also decided to clean our carpets this weekend. They were getting really dirty, so we rented a carpet cleaner from Home Depot and Chris spent the next couple hours cleaning them. Thanks babe! We also decided that since we had it for 24 hours we might as well clean our car's carpet.

Afterward some friends in our ward gave us tickets to the BYU vs. Air Force game. Chris had never been to a BYU game and he was VERY excited. :) We had a lot of fun and BYU won!

If that wasn't enough we went to see New Moon later that night!! It was such a great movie, and for those of you who haven't seen it yet... GO! It was a busy Saturday and the weekend went by fast, but only a couple more days until Thanksgiving break!

Ross Family Reunion

This past week Chris and I had the opportunity to go to Redmond, Oregon for a family reunion. Since my grandparents are extending their Nauvoo mission for another year, all of the extended family decided to get together. It was the first time we had all been together in a very long time! We had so much fun together relaxing and playing at Eagle Crest.

The only downside of the trip was that we had to drive... It was 12 hours one way, but we did caravan with my grandparents, aunt Kayleen, some of my cousins, and Janelle so it wasn't that bad and I took a few cool pictures on the way.

We also took a lot of potty breaks because the kids needed to play and stretch out their legs.

For those of you that don't know my family very well, we are avid volleyball players and try to get a game together everytime we have a reunion. Although it was a little frustrating at first since it was too cold to play outside and all the gyms were being used. Finally we found this gym and played around a little bit before they set up a net for us and the real games began!

The last day we were there we went to the outlet malls in Bend, but before we left we came upon these wild deer that let us pet a feed them! It was quite the experience since none of us had ever been that close to a live deer.

We had such a fun time we were all sad to leave. But we can't wait til Christmas to get together again! Love you guys :)

Halloween 2009

Over Halloween weekend my cousin Miguel, who has been serving in Iraq for the past two years, surprised my cousins and I with a visit! He brought his wife Val, who we had never met before and stayed and visited with us for a few days. Since it was Halloween weekend we all dressed up and went out to dinner. Chris and I dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dirt and Miguel and his wife were Dora the Explorer and Diego. It was so fun to see him and catch up after such a long time.

We also went to our ward Halloween party later that night.

There were a lot of cute and creative costumes!

At the end of the night they had prizes for some of the costumes and Chris and I won the silliest costume.

Janelle's Half Marathon

Early Halloween morning Chris and I drove up Provo Canyon to cheer on my younger sister Janelle in a half marathon! It was so fun because lots of the runners dressed up. I can't imagine running 13 miles, especially in a costume!

Pumpkin Carving!

This weekend our friends Brian and Whitney Wilde came over and we carved pumpkins! It was so much fun, I love carving pumpkins, even though I never know what to carve. Should I go with spooky and scary, or cute and creative? This year I opted for cute :)
We had a blast carving out the guts, luckily mine didn't have that many. I also learned a new trick, that if you put the pumpkin guts in water all the seeds will float to the top so it's easier to separate when you pull the seeds out to toast them! Thank you Martha Stewart for this great tip!!

Hee Haw Farms

This weekend Chris and I took a walk up the Provo Canyon to admire the beautiful fall colors. It's so gorgeous this time of year, I love it!

Camping at Bear Lake

This past weekend was Chris and my 9 month anniversary and also one of the last warm weekends before summer is over :( So we decided to go camping. We went up to Bear Lake Friday evening and set up camp. That night we BBQ, built a fire to roast marshmallows, and played card games. The next morning we slept in and had a late breakfast then went
down to the lake. The weather was so nice! We had fun laying out and playing in the water.

We had a great weekend even though it was a short trip. I'm glad we were able to relax and spend some time together. Can't wait for next summer!

Hammond Hangout

Last week Chris' brother Scot, his wife Traci and their son's Mason and Chace came to visit from Washington. We had so much fun! We all stayed at Chris' parents house for the weekend and had such a great time visiting and hanging out.
Chris and I got there Thursday night and the next morning Chris' dad took the boys fishing in Wellsville. The girls came up later and we all had a picnic. Chris even caught a fish!! Good job babe!

This is Chace, their youngest. He is so adorable and Chris and I had a lot of fun playing with him!

Later that day we went to Bear Lake and played. Then we went to Pickleville Playhouse and had this amazing BBQ and watched "Annie get your gun". It was such much fun. The food was great and the play was so good. For those of you who have never been you should go out there sometime!

Then on Saturday we went to Lagoon for a fun filled day riding the rides! It was perfect weather, overcast and not too hot. But it was a little cold for the water park. We all got in our suits, but the water was SO cold. We only went on a couple slides, then went back out to the park to the rides.

Nauvoo, Illinois

A few weeks ago my family, Chris and I were able to go to Nauvoo, Illinois. My grandparents are currently serving an LDS temple mission there. We wanted to see them and also be in the Nauvoo Pageant. For those of you who don't know about the Nauvoo Pageant it's kind of like the Hill Camorah Pageant. It's put on by the LDS church and volunteers from all over come to be a part of it. My family sent in applications and were chosen to be in the Green cast. They have all the families come to Nauvoo for two weeks, the first week learning all the choreography and songs, and then the second week to perform. Chris and I were only able to go for one week so we weren't in the whole pageant, just the pre-show and the finale. It was still a great experience and we all had so much fun! This is how our trip went.....

It's an 18 our drive to Nauvoo, yes that's right, we DROVE! We did it in three days and it actually wasn't that bad. We drove from about 8am to 5pm and then were able to take the evening site-seeing and playing at the hotel.

Our first stop was Fort Bridger in Wyoming.

We did A LOT of this on the trip....

And a lot of eating and being silly.

....18 hours is along time to sit in a van packed to the hilt with luggage, food and 7 people, but we were able to have fun by playing games, earning prizes, and laughing as much as possible.

We stopped in Missouri at the Liberty jail, where Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, Sidney Rigdon, Lyman Wight, Alexander McRae, and Caleb Baldwin were incarcerated for five months. He recieved three revelations here that are now in the Doctrine and Covenants.

This is the actual jail that they stayed it, it was so spiritual to be where the Prophet Joseph Smith had been and recieved revelation for Doctrine and Covenants 121.

Afterward we went to Adam-ondi-ahman, this is were Adam and Eve stayed after they left the Garden of Eden. It was so beautiful!

We stopped in a small town called Unionville to get something to eat. We saw that they were having some sort of festival so we walked down to the main street and they were having bed races! Funny how you keep yourselves entertained when living in a small town....

Carthage Jail. This was such a sacred and reverent place. We were able to go through the jail where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith were martyred in 1844. You can feel the spirit so strong here, it's so sad knowing this is where they died, but at the same time joyful to know that the Church still went forth and all that has happened since.

Chris had his 23rd birthday while we were in Nauvoo. It was great to celebrate with family, Happy Birthday babe, love you!

While my family was at play practice Chris and I got the chance to tour Nauvoo. We stopped at all the historic homes and stores and had a great time learning about church history.

All seven of us stayed at my grandparents one bedroom apartment. Need less to say it was a tight squeeze! Nicole and I are laying on top of all the air matresses piled on top of eachother in my grandparents room. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for letting us stay with you!

Everynight we wore our costumes and headed out for the preshow and the pageant. Nicole and I are playing the part, acting like pioneers :)

At the preshow our family was in charge of the children's crafts. We taught kids how to play pioneer games, including these buttone spinners. Chris did such a great job teaching the kids, I was impressed!

Not only did we have to wear ugly dresses....we also had to wear ugly shoes. It made me really greatful to the pioneers and all they had to endure!

Chris and I took and carriage and a wagon ride through Nauvoo. Thess were both so fun and we heard a lot of great pioneer stories.

This is the grave site of Hyrum, Joseph and Emma. You could really feel the spirit here, it was such a sacred place. It over looks the Mississippi River and is so beautiful and peaceful.

The Red Brick store is not owned by the LDS church, but by the Community of Christ (as with the Smith's cemetery) but it was still cool to go inside and see everything. This is where the first endowment was held.

Chris and I in front of the Nauvoo temple. It was such a great experience to not only see and go to the temple multiple times, but to learn about the people of Nauvoo and our early ancestors. What they had to endure and the trials they faced. It really strengthed both our testimonies. I am so greatful to them and the sacrifices they made to make the Church what is it today.

We had a really fun trip and it was nice to be with our family. We love you and miss you already!

St. Louis!

After visiting Nauvoo Chris and I had the oppurtunity to go to St. Louis, Missouri. We only had one day to get everything in, but we manage to do a whole lot in that one day! We got together a lot of brochures and found the top things to do in St. Louis. We started out at the Cathedral Basillica.

Everything was so beautiful there. All of the pictures were made from these tiny tiles. There are 83,000 square feet of mosaic artwork, 41.5 million tiny tiles in over 7,000 different colors. Its so amazing!

Afterward we went to the Gateway Arch, it was over a 30min line just to get through security and into the building. Then it was another 2 hour line to get a ticket to go up to the top of the arch. Since we were on such a tight time schedule we decided we didn't have that long to wait around. I was really bumed because I wanted to see the view from the top of the arch. Instead we went across the street to the River boat tour of St. Louis.

It was such a fun boat ride! We road on this cute Ferry called the Tom Sawyer. We learned so much about the history of St. Louis on the ride and got to see a lot of the sites of the city from the Mississippi River.

When we bought our tickets for the boat ride we found out that we could also buy tickets to the Gateway Arch! So we didn't have to wait in a long line again! We bought the other tickets and went back to the Arch. The ride up to the top is so crazy! You ride in a small white compartment, about the size of an airplane bathroom and five people are sitting in small white chairs as you take a 5 min ride to the top. There are no windows on the ride and only a few small windows at the top! I don't know if I'd do it again...but now we can say we've been to the top of the Gateway Arch.

This is the view from the top of the Arch. Even though it was a hastle to get here, the view was amazing. The Arch is 630 feet tall, the tallest monument in the United States! It was really cool to be up that high and see over the top of everything!

After we went to the Arch we hurried to get to the Cahokia Mounds. This is the largest prehistoric Indian city north of Mexico. It covers about 4,000 acres and at least 120 mounds! They have found artifacts here dating back to 700 AD!

Woodhenge was first constructed here in 1100 AD. It was used to determine changing seasons, kind of like stonehenge.

Since we were taking so many pictures and videos our batteries started to die! I couldn't go on knowing that we wouldn't be able to document everything! So we drove around trying to find a gas station that had an outlet to charge our electronics. Finally we found one! The lengths I go to in order to have pictures to blog about :)

After the 30 min detour to the gas station we drove to the historic Route 66.

This is a picture at Old Chain Rocks Bridge, it's part of the historic Route 66 and is now the longest pedestrian and bike bridge in the world!

Next, we went on to the Loop. Which is one of America's top 10 greatest streets. It had lots of cute shops and restaurants. They also have a "Walk of Fame" with all of the famous people that have come out of St. Louis. Including Charles A. Lindbergh, T.S. Elliot, Dred and Harriet Scott, Nelly, Chuck Berry, and lots of others!

For our last stop in St. Louis we went to Ted Drewes famous frozen custard. It was voted in the top 100 american foods. It was really good and a great way to end such an awesome trip!

Our CRAZY Camping Trip

This past weekend Chris and I decided last minute to go camping. We made yummy tin foil dinners and brought stuff to make pineapple upsidedown cake. By the time we packed up the car it was already 7:30 and we had an hour drive to get to Strawberry Reservoir. I hate setting up camp in the dark so we were racing against the sun setting the whole time. As we're hurrying to get to the Reservoir we notice we dont have much gas in the tank...but we figure we're not that far away and we'll be fine. With only 10 miles to go and the sun setting in the rearview window we come upon an accident that just happened! We're only five cars behind it, but since it was so bad they had to call in lifeflight and we had to wait for over an hour until they started letting cars through. So much for getting there in the day....

Then, once we get to Strawberry Resevoir it is now dark and since neither of us had been here before we had to stop at the visitor's center to look at a map. We had heard that Indian Creek was a good place to camp, so even though it was halfway around the lake we decided to try and find it. (keep in mind we dont have much gas). So off we go driving around the lake trying to look for this tiny sign that says Indian Creek. After driving for more then 20min and having NO idea where we were, we see a couple other car headlights heading up this one road. We drive up to it and finally we found it! We keep driving up this dirt road to find that ALL the campsites are full! By now its getting close to 1030, we're bother tired, frustrated, and hungry and we still had to set up camp, build a fire, and cook tin foil dinners! As we're trying to determin if we have enough gas to keep looking for another place we spot the last campsite in the whole area! The only this is that its up this huge hill that normally wouldn't be so bad, but we're in my honda sedan! We try to two wheel it up the hill and finally made it!

I hurry up and put together the tent while Chris starts on the fire. Not long into we realize the wood we have is too green and wet and wont stay lit! Luckily we brought a camping stove and pot (always come prepared! ;) I don't think a meal ever tasted so good! We were too exhasted to cook the pineapple upsidedown cake so we crawled into bed. With our neighbors playing Creed at a deafening volume, we finally fall asleep. Not more then a couple hours later Chris and I jump out of bed because it starts pouring!! Chris, the good husband that he is, gets out of his nice warm bed and hurrys to throw all the camping gear we left outside into the car while getting soaked to the bone. The sun wakes us up not too much longer and we decided to get up. We brought muffins to eat in the morning and as we're sitting around our not too impressive smoking fire hundreds of flies start to swarm us!! I keep bating them off me and put on a hoodie and Chris just sits still and they're landing all over his shirt and face! I was laughing so hard! We ran to get into the car and finish our breakfast. Then on the count of three we hurried and took down camp and got out of there as fast as we could without getting eaten alive!

Since we didn't have ANY gas we didn't get to do any sight-seeing and had to find a gas station as soon as possible. The lake and that whole area was really pretty. And even though we didn't have that good of an experience we'll have to go back another time in the day :)

But the weekend wasn't a total bust, we went to Park City and went shopping at the outlet mall! Chris' birthday is next week, so he got some early birthday presents.

Happy 4th of July

This 4th of July was so fun! We started off the weekend having a bbq and playing volleyball with my sister Janelle and a couple of her friends. Then saturday we watched the freedom festival parade, went to 7 peaks, and watched the stadium of fire fireworks. We had a really good time and can't wait until next year!

Right before we left to the parade it started pouring! So we grabbed the umbrella on our way out. Knowing Utah weather of course it stopped in less then 10 min and we ended up using the umbrella to block the sun since it ended up being in the high 90's that day!

The floats weren't anything compared to Disneyland parades, but.... I was still impress how good they looked!

Ok I know we look a little retarded in this picture, but it was so dark out and the camera had such a bright flash this is the best picture we could get!

This next week we're leaving to Nauvoo with my family. We're so excited! Seven of us are going to cram into my parents minivan with all our luggage and drive the 18 hours there...need less to say it will be a VERY fun trip. But on the way back Chris and I are going to fly!

My grandparents are on a mission in Nauvoo and my family is going to do the Nauvoo Pagent. We'll be gone for a week and a half, I'll have so much to blog about when we get back!

Disneyland 2009

This past week Chris and I went to Disneyland with his brother, sister-in-law, their two kids, and his parents. It was so fun! The weather was so nice and we had such a great time. We spent five days there and got to go to both Disneyland and California Adventure. Chris and I had never been to California Adventure and we hadn't been to Disneyland since we were little kids. They had so many more rides and we went on all of them!!

Day 1:

The first day we got there we had such a good time, we went to the castle and took all the famous pictures :)

Nobody is in this picture...I just thought it was really cool with Walt Disney, Mickey and the castle in the background.

We went to toontown and had fun playing around and being silly.

Later that night we went out to ice cream!!! It's a good thing I married into a family that loves ice cream as much as I do!

At night Disneyland is so magical! Everyone has cool light up toys and balloons, and everynight they have an awesome firework show.

We watched fantasmic our first night there, it is such an amazing show. If you haven't seen it, it's a light show on the water front with lots of famous Disney characters. So magical and fairytale like.

Day 2:

Before we left to Disneyland all three families decided to make matching t-shirts that we could wear one day. Chris and I brainstormed forever about what we should do. Finally I had this great idea that we should put our faces on Mickey and Minnie Mouse! We had them made before we left and this is how they turned out! I thought they looked so cute and we got alot of compliments on them :)

Even though Chris and I don't have any kids, it was so fun watching Scot and Traci's sons Mason and Chace and seeing their eyes light up to everything they saw! It made Disneyland that much better

Indiana Jones is one of my favorite rides, we went on it probably three times. I never really liked the movies, but the ride is awesome!

We rode the train all wearing our family shirts. We have such a cute family :)

It got so hot at Disneyland toward the middle of the day, so everyday around 2 we would go back to the hotel and swim and layout. Two of my favorite things to do!

Later that night we went pack to the park and rode more rides! We were a little too cheap to buy the pictures they take on the rides, but we took pictures of them. On the Splash Mountain picture Chris and I are in the back and some guys hand is over my face :(

Day 3:

On the third day we went to California Adventure. It is such a fun park. It has lots of big rides, and they made it kind of a carnival theme.

While Chris' parents and brother and sister-in-law went on a ride we watched the kids. We took them to this little show they were having and afterward out came Woody and Mickey Mouse. Mason was so excited! It was so cute, we had to snap a few pictures and video.

We watched so many 3-D movies! I normally don't like watching them cause they make me sick, but they were so well done and so interesting that I didn't! We saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Muppet show, and It's Tough to be a Bug. Which was so cool cause they had a stink bug that sprayed smoke, and another bug that sprayed water, then they had huge fake bugs come down through the ceiling! It was so cool!

One of the scariest rides we went on was Hollywood Tower of Terror. It was so crazy! I had been on rides that drop you before, but this one dropped you 12 stories. Not just once, but like five times it kept doing it over and over! And at the top they would open the doors and you could see all over the amusment park! It was a really fun ride, but once was enough...you can tell by my face in the picture. We're in the top left corner.

They had so many cute photo stops, and since I love pictures we had to stop at all of them. Thanks to Chris for being patient and letting me take so many pictures.

Later that night we watched the Electrical Parade. It was one of my favorites, the lights were so pretty, especially at night!

Day 4:

In this picture you can see how California Adventure is set up like a carnival, this ferris wheel was so cool. It had stationary booths and other booths that would loop around inside the ferris wheel. Kinda hard to explain... but it was cool.

She had to wear a walking cast the whole time we were there, but don't worry it actually was great that she did because she got a wheelchair and we got to go to the front of all the lines since she was "handicaped," hehe. Love you Traci!

We got to watch the Pixar Play Parade and they had some pretty cool floats. With water squirting and bubbles!

We all went on this river rapids ride. It was so fun, but we did get a little wet!

One of the last nights we were there we went to this rodeo roundup ranch for dinner. The food was so good, and the entertainment was great!

Day 5:

The last day we went to Downtown Disney. We went to Lego Land and got all our shopping done!

We ate so good while we were there, and the last day we ate at the Rainforest Cafe and then got ice cream. What more could you ask for?!

We all had such a good time and were sad to leave!

Thanks Mike and Barb for taking us all on this great family trip! We had so much fun and made some great memories! We are so greatful for all that you do for us, we love you!!

Today is my good friend Jaclyn's birthday, and this weekend we were kinda bumed because we wanted to lay out and go to seven peaks, but of course the weather was rainy and cloudy. So instead we did our other favorite thing, SHOPPING! We had a lot of fun and both bought really cute pants and later went out to dinner with our husbands so it turned out being ok. But I just wanna say Happy Birthday Jaclyn and thanks for being a great friend for such a long time :)

This Tuesday Chris and I are going to DISNEYLAND with Chris' family!!! We're so excited and have been looking forward to this trip for along time. So before we left we decided we wanted to get a videocamera. And this weekend we bought one!! I'm so excited to use it, it's a JVC gz-mg630 and is so cute and small! I'll have to upload lots of cool videos of our trip this week to disneyland!

Our 6 month anniversary and Orem Summerfest

This past Friday was Chris and My 6 month anniversary. I can't believe it's already been six months its gone by so quickly. We've loved being married and can't wait for the years to come :)

Chris suprised me at work and showed up with these roses...all the girls were jealous of how great my husband is :) The past week we've had crazy thunderstorms with tons of rain. My windshield wipers are getting kinda old and not working very well. So for our anniversary Chris got me new wipers and even put them on for me! Isn't he so awesome!

On Saturday we went to Orem Summerfest. It was pouring rain ALL day, but it just so happened that the rain let up just long enough for us to go see all the cute booths, the tahian dancers, and watch the parade. Although they did cancel the fireworks that I was really looking forward to!

Henry's Lake Memorial Weekend

This memorial weekend Chris and I went with his family to Island Park, Idaho. We stayed in a cabin at Henry's Lake. We fished, read, ate yummy food, relaxed, and went to yellowstone national park. We had so much fun! We even got to see a bear, which is very unusual! Thanks Mike and Barb for a fun filled weekend, we're looking forward to next year!

Timpanogos Cave

This weekend Chris and I went camping with my sister Janelle and her friend Kirsten up American Fork canyon. Jaclyn and Tyson also came up for the evening. We had so much fun! We made tinfoil dinners and cooked them in the fire and even made microwave popcorn too! We played bolo ball and told scary stories :) Well...not really, but we all had a blast!
In the morning Chris and I decided to hike Timpanogos Cave. For those of you who haven't been it's a three mile hike round trip up a very steep mountain. I'll admit I made Chris pull me up some of the way :) But once you get there the cave is so amazing!! It's very big and you get to go on a tour with a group of people. We had alot of fun and got to see some cool geological formations.

The past two weekends Chris and I have been very busy! Last Thursday we drove up to Rexburg to see our good friends Brian and Whitney get married! We were also able to visit with Chris' cousin Brannon and his wife Brittney. Then that Friday we drove to Logan to celebrate Chris' dad's birthday, not even 12 hours later we drove back to Provo to met up with our sister-in law Traci!! Needless to say we were in the car alot that weekend! But we had a lot of fun and got to spend time with our friends.

Later in the week the dental office I work for gave us some tickets to a baseball game. Chris and I drove up to salt lake with a coworker of mine and her boyfriend to watch the Salt Lake Bees game. It was alot of fun, they played the Washington Rainers so we weren't too sad when the Bees lost :)

Then this weekend for Mother's day we went back up to Logan to spend time with Chris' parents. We had alot of fun and went on a little hike up to a waterfall and got to visit with some friends we hadn't seen since we've been married! We're so blessed to have friends and family nearby. I just wanted to say happy mother's day to both my moms :) and thanks Barb for being a great mother-in law! And even though I dont live near my mom and didn't get to see her this weekend, I love and appreciate her and everything she does for us too!
So after all this driving the past two weeks I'm ready to stop spending so much time in the car and just stay at home!

Janelle's Graduation

This past weekend my sister Janelle graduate in food science from BYU. My family came out from Oregon and we all got to spend some time together!
Chris and I stayed at my grandparents with them and while we were there my Grandma introduced us to her neighbor who has an antique book collection and even has a first edition of the Book of Mormon! It was cool to see and actually hold books that have so much history!
Later my family and I all came down to Provo, we had a BBQ for Janelle at the park. The Georges and some of her friends came. The next day we went to the graduation. I'm so proud and happy for Janelle! Right now she's working hard developing flavors for local resturants. She's really talented and has a great future ahead of her! After the graduation our family went to Macaroni Grill to celebrate. It was so great to have everyone together. I had a great time and was sad to see them leave. It's hard having your family live so far away! But I'm greatful for the time we get to spend together and can't wait to see them again when we go to Nauvoo in July.

Easter

This year for Easter we had everyone come to our house, a little stressful knowing I was gonna have 9 people over for dinner in our apartment, but we pulled it off well! The day before Easter I made Chris an Easter basket and he had to play hot and cold to find it! This was a tradition in my family growing up, so I figured I'd keep the tradition alive for my new family :) Later that night Chris, my sister Janelle, her roommate Kirstin, my cousin Schyler and I all dyed eggs. Janelle had alot of creative ideas for decorating involving fire and candle wax... Then on Easter Sunday Chris parents drove all the way down from Logan to take part in the festivities! Janelle and her roommate Kara came, so did Schyler, and Jaclyn and Tyson. We played Wii....Chris and I bought a it over the weekend...impulse buy...but so far we love it and had fun playing it with everyone. We had an amazing dinner, Chris and I made the ham (It was our first time making one and I think it turned out great!) and everyone else brought something too. After dinner, we had our traditional Easter pinata!! Janelle made it all from scratch, she did an awesome job! It was so funny to watch everyone try to hit it blindfolded. Especially Jaclyn, she had NO IDEA where she was with the blindfold on! Watch the video below, it's so funny! If having a pinata isn't part of your Easter tradition, it really should be! General Conference Getaway

This weekend Chris' parents invited us up to Salt Lake City to stay the weekend and go to conference with them. We had such a fun time! They take really good care of us and love to spoil us :) We spent time on temple square, listening to general conference, playing games, and eating lots of yummy food. Chris and I had a really good time, thanks Mike and Barb for giving us a fun weekend getaway!

Arches National Park 2009

This weekend Chris and I went to Moab to go camping and visit Arches National Park. Chris had never been and we were both ready for a little vacation. It was such a fun trip and the weather was awesome! So much warmer then here in Provo, we even got a little sunburned.

The trip started out well, we packed up the car, plugged in the GPS, and tuned up the tunes. About 40 min later... Chris noticed that on the GPS our arrival time was getting later and later. It tuned out that we somehow missed the exit because the music was so loud we couldn't hear the GPS! So... we turned around and drove back the 40 miles! It wasn't too fun, but diffidently something to look back on and laugh about later.

When we got to Moab we set up camp and went into town, it was to dark to go into the park, but we had fun looking at all the cute little shops. Saturday morning we woke up and got an early start. The weather was so good, we hiked every arch but two! It was so much fun, we hiked twelve miles and saw some amazing views. If you haven't been you should. Once it was dark we went back into town and ate a huge bannana split, so yummy!

Sunday we packed up camp and headed for Canyonlands National Park. It was so beautiful there as well, but it was very windy! We couldn't hike around much cause the wind was picking up the sand and it was kind of dangerous. The canyons were so amazing!! We had so much fun and I'm glad we were able to go on this trip and spend time together!

Today I went to my sister's rugby game. That sport is SO intense I dont know how anyone could play it, let alone girls, they get hammered out there. But it was an awesome game and BYU won! Good job Janelle!

Chris and I can finally sit back and relax! After a fun and very busy month with our wedding, honeymoon, open house, and Christmas we can finally lay low at our new apartment! For those of you who don't know Chris and I moved to Provo recently and are loving our new apartment! It's been so much fun setting up house, although alot more work then I expected. It took awhile for use to finally unpack everything, set up the furniture, and decorate the house, but it's all done now, yay! Thanks to everyone who helped with putting together both receptions and all the planning and organizing it was so beautiful and I couldn't imagine a better wedding! Chris and I are so happy!! I'll add more posts later after I get back all our wedding and honeymoon pictures.
